Message Design Research
Communication is not only pervasive in all aspects of life and existence, but it has been considered by some theorists to be an indispensable part of any existence. One cannot not communicate; whether is it by intentional acts to make meaning, or by the meaning that one makes by the inevitable choices that he/she makes.
The field of communication theory is vast and there any numerous perspectives of communication research. The making of meaning is based on a relatively consistent social contract to ensure that the signification of a given act or idea is stable enough to reliably convey a desired understanding. Communication is therefore closely linked to culture whether largely informal and organic, or as a centrally controlled reference for meaning as it may be demonstrated by 'corporate culture'.
This section of iDonny constitutes numerous documents in which the author(s) discuss the various aspects of making meaning in the context of socio-political and economic existence (cultural communication).

SI/UK/US/AU... Is one English standard better than another?
What you have pointed out may be true, especially for technical documentation and blog entries, comments and troubleshooting reports posted on this site. While we all endeavor/endeavor to write immaculate grammar and spell each word with reference to the Oxford or Webster dictionary, this is not always possible especially in situations where speed is of essence to avail detailed information on useful experiences is useful to website users.
Also, as you note in this entry, grammar is a subjective idea depending on the linguistic and cultural reference. Based on US American grammatical standards, most of my writing is erroneous and the spelling is ridden with errors. However, if you are familiar with SI standard English based, then you will better understand my grammar and spelling.
Writing for the Internet inherently carries the problem of not being targeted to all readers of any major language let alone English. The objective of this site is to convey technical and communication theory thought and ideas to readers with the assumption that to one English speaker who may consider his/her/their version of the language to be the BEST, others do think the same of their dialect of English. As a standard English writer, US English is not my desired standard, but I understand and do not value it any less than my own.
Nota Bene: Reading between the lines, one can notice that the above text is deviating from SI Standard English to highlight the various ways of spelling (endeavor/endeavor, specialty/speciality) and speaking (his/her vs their). Genuine correction will be acted upon, but differences in US/UK/SI/CA/AU/NZ/KE/ZA/JM/IR versions of English cannot be considered as valid corrections; but this comment from {Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 2006-10-12 07:54.} may be the germ to steer all of us to discuss the status quo of the global English language.
